2005FIFAワールドユースU-20選手権　開幕戦　日本×オランダ「黒船、来襲」

結果は１－２で日本の惜敗、
日本側得点者：平山（水野のゴール正面３０メートルのフリーキックからヘディング）
オランダ：アフェライ（左サイドをドリブルで上がるクインシー→ペナルティーエリア真中バベルが左にDFを引っ張りながらのヒール→アフェライ右隅に蹴り込む見事な連携）、
バベル（クインシーが自陣でコーナーキックのクリアーを拾い、チェックに来た二人を巧みな足技で抜き反転そして突進、もうひとり囲みに来たDFをもろともぶち抜き、PA手前でもう一人スピードで縦に抜き、ゴールライン間際で落ち着いて中にグラウンダーの横パス、これをバベルがDFのスライｆディングと競りながらゴール右に流し込んだファインゴール）

総評としてはオランダ代表の上手さと速さにやられた感じ、
そして日本代表の最大のウィークポイント「足元のショートパスでの繋ぎ」を露呈した。
そしてオランダA代表で最近デビューし大事なワールドカップヨーロッパ予選で
１ゴールを決めているバベル差し置き、
クインシー・オブス・アベイエ（キンシー・オウス・アベイー）が日本の左サイドを好き放題で蹂躙した、
所属アーセナルでは早くもアンリの後継者と呼ばれているだとか。

まず立ち上がりは互角な感じでボールを取り合い、
しかし先制点のシーンでは日本のディフェンダーが６人いたのを、
３人の見事な連動した動きで失点を許した。

２点目は３人で囲いに行ったにもかかわらず、
抜かれてしまい失点を許した。
ここはファウルででも止めるべきだったが、
おそらく想像以上の速さと強さだったので何も出来なかったのでしょう。

この２失点はどちらもファインゴールだったので、仕方ない点もあるし、
その後のクインシーには常に３人で囲みに行って、
オランダの度々のチャンスを皆体を張って止めてたので、
守備に関しては合格点を与えられる。

しかし攻撃はというと、
首を傾げざるを得なくなる。
日本の攻めはまるで始めから終わりまでパワープレイの繰り返し

ディフェンスラインからの組み立ては皆無で、
ロングキックの放り込みばかり。
平山がいるので、放り込みも一つの戦術と言えばそうですが、
問題はロングパスの出してのキックと来たら
普段相手ゴールキーパーへのロングパスしか練習していないのではないか
と勘繰ってしまうほどのキック精度だったので
どうしようもない、これでは全く攻撃にならない。

後半、期待のJ1右サイド若手選手で紹介した水野選手が苔口選手と代わって、
中盤で基点を作って、
FKから正確で速い見事なボールを平山選手に合わせ、1点を返し、
さらに後半のラスト付近ではオランダ代表が浮き足立ち、
日本もDFラインを押し上げ、中盤でよくこぼれ球を拾い、
家長選手、カレン・ロバート選手、森本選手と３回も
決定的チャンスを作ったが何れも惜しくも不発に終わった。

２年前のユース代表からずっと率いてきて（もう何年ユース代表監督やっているのか）
大熊監督はまさか放り込み戦術しか練習させていない　わけ　ないですよね？

採点表：
平山　７．０　良くキープし１ゴールを決めた、スタメンの中で足技が１番上手く感じられた
苔口　５．０　ボールにもほとんど触れず、仕事できず
家長　５．５　ところどころ光る個人技を見せた　
本田　５．５　あまり出番はなかったが、中盤でのキープは出来てた、がパス精度がよくなかった　
小林　５．０　中盤はやられっぱなし、DFラインからの繋ぎも貰いに行かずといい所なし
兵藤　５．０　同上
水本　６．０　オランダの右サイドをほぼ完封し中のカバーをも良くこなした　　
柳楽(なぎら）　５．０　守備は良く頑張ったがビルドアップせずに直接相手GKに渡すロングパスに終始した　　　　
増嶋　５．０　同上
中村　５．５　クインシーに終始翻弄されっぱなしだったが、頑強に食らいついて守った
西川　６．５　何度も決定的シュートを止めた、２失点は責任なし
後半途中出場
水野　６．５　中盤で唯一の起点となり、１アシストを記録
カレン　５．５　良くボールを追い１回決定機を作った
森本　５．５　同上
